The Honest Woodcutter
One day a poor wood-cutter was cutting wood beside a river. Suddenly his axe fell into the river. He began to cry. The water god who lived in the river felt pity for him. He appeared before the wood-cutter with a gold axe and asked. "Is it yours?" 'No' was the answer to the wood-cutter. He disappeared and again came back with a silver axe. But the wood-cutter refused to take the silver-axe. He liked to accept his iron axe only. The water-god was pleased with the wood-cutter for his honesty and gave him all the three axes.
