Your Last Day at School
Or A Memorable Day in Your Life
[Introduction-mention the day-what happened—impression conclusion.]
The memory of my last day at school is one of the memorable days of my life. Passing the golden years of my life in the school I took leave of my teachers and school friends on the 5th January, '98. The results of our H.S. Test Examination were published and we, the successful candidates were asked to deposit our examination fees on the 5th of January.
We all the allowed candidates attended our school at 11 a.m. to submit our fees and fill up the application forms for the Final Examination. The clerk of our school received our fees and directed us to assemble in our classroom where I sat for the last time with sadness for leaving my school forever. The clerk entered our classroom at 1 p.m. with our application forms and called us one by one according to our serial numbers only to put our signatures because our forms being typed out were ready by the clerk. We all were silent and maintained discipline so that other classes may not be disturbed.
Our Headmaster summoned us in his room and advised us to use the time properly for preparing ourselves for the examination and told us that the name and fame of our school depended on our success as a whole (সামগ্রিকভাবে). We bowed down our head to his feet and he blessed us heartily. As he was overwhelmed with sorrow, he could not control his tears and we too. Then we entered the Teachers' room where our beloved and respected teachers were enjoying their leisure hours. We bowed our heads down to them all one by one and each of them wished us success in the examination as well as in our life. Some of them advised us to take care of our health on which our performance would depend much. Then the students of class IX gathered in the hall to give us a hearty farewell with a small packet of sweets for each of us. The years of my love and affection I received in my school came to an end. I left the school premises with a heavy heart. It is still vivid in my mind.
