Different between primary memory and Secondary memory

Primary memory :

RAM(Main Memory)

1. Primary memory  is integrated circuit (IC) based.
2. Primary memory is extremely efficient and fast.
3. Primary memory is volatile.
4. Data is stored temporarily.
5. Primary memory is used by computer itself.
6. Primary memory is dependent on power supply.
7. Primary memory is extremely costly.
8. Here the data storage capacity is much less.
9. Example of Primary memory - RAM,ROM

Secondary memory:

1. Secondary memory is  magnetic paper or optical media based.

   

   Hard disk

   
   
2. Secondary memory is competitively slow.
3. Secondary memory is non-volatile.
4.  Data is stored permanently.
5. Secondary memory is used by the users.
6. Secondary memory is not dependent on power supply.
7. Secondary memory parts are less costly.
8.  Data storage capacity is extremely high.
9. Example of Primary memory - Hard disk,Floppy disk.
